OUR DISABILITY EXPERIENCE
In 2001 our family was thrust into the world of special needs and physical disabilities with the adoption of our third son, Moise. Moise suffered severe brain damage as a result of a virus that he contracted in utero. Moise is both hearing and visually impaired and has never walked independently. In 2007, our precious daughter, Jalayne, was born with Down Syndrome. Jalayne went to be with Jesus in heaven in 2009. And in 2012 we adopted Kruz, who was born with a rare genetic disorder known as Jacobsen Syndrome.

Because of our own experiences, we are very familiar with the challenges that families of disabilities face daily. Having had to make adaptations to our own home to accomodate our children's physical and developmental needs, we are aware of the astronomical cost of all things related to handicap accessibility. We also know that the needs of each individual are unique, depending on the nature and extent of disability and what works for one may not work for another. It is for this purpose that we are passionate about helping families find and develop home modifications that work at a more affordable cost.

Whether you are building a new home or need to modify your current home with ramps, wider doorways, or accessible showers, we are here to help.
We Customize to Fit Your Needs

My father had a very slow progression form of ALS diagnosed late in life. We were determined to keep him at home, and that required an addition to make the home handicap accessible. Jim Holmes and Sons, Inc. won a competitive bid and completed the entire addition on schedule. The construction was executed in a manner that absolutely minimized disruption to my father’s daily life as my parents, who were in their 80’s, remained in the home. The project had multiple handicap ramps, wide doorways, handicap electrical switches and outlets, roll in shower, handicap vanity, flooring suitable for wheelchairs and more. All of the work was done in accordance with the Veteran’s Administration (VA) detailed handicap accessible guidelines and passed inspections by the VA. The workmanship and quality were outstanding. I recommend Jim Holmes and Sons without reservation.
