From start to completion, Jim Holmes and his crew were more than we could have asked for. We knew we wanted a builder who could build our home to stand for more than a hundred years and Jim Holmes has done just that. Jim had excellent communication all throughout our build. Anytime we had a question or a concern, Jim was quick to call back and address whatever issue we were having. Jim and his crew also showed excellent craftsmanship. I never had to worry something wouldn't be done right. Jim's guidance, communication, craftsmanship, patience, and humor made him an excellent choice for our builder. We built our first house with Jim as general contractor in 2002, and were very satisfied with the processes, quality, and professionalism of everyone involved. Several years later we were ready to finish our basement. While we were our own general contractor, Jim & the original subcontractors were still our first choice for work we did not perform ourselves. Through the years, Jim also did several other home improvement projects, and his attention to detail and ease to work with continued to make him our preferred choice for any project regardless of size. Jim built a retirement home for my wife Sheryl and me in 2008. We originally had another builder lined up, but he contracted a terminal illness at the last minute, so we were left looking for a builder. I had interviewed several builders for the project but just wasn’t satisfied. At a company Christmas party, we were talking to a friend who installs hardwood floors about our dilemma, and he mentioned Jim. He said that Jim’s homes were always the best ones to install hardwood in because the walls were always perfectly square and to print. So I met with Jim the following week and the rest is history. I watched the entire construction process and was unbelievably impressed with the quality of the construction process. Jim was very good to work with and we became good friends and remain so today. Jim is a good Christian, which is important to my wife and I, and is very honest and fair in his dealings.

In 2015, we undertook a large landscaping project in the backyard and turned to Jim to build the pavilion. I handed a Jim a picture of a pavilion I liked and asked him to build me one like it. All I gave him was the picture and the rough dimensions and, to no surprise, it came out just like I had hoped. I have personally sent two friends to Jim for their building needs and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality home or structure!

Over the years I have had occasion to use J.M.Holmes and Sons for a variety of projects. Our family lived in a very nice older, rural home that needed some remodeling - an upstairs bathroom. Jim and his men did an excellent job. On the heels of that, my father needed to have some improvements done to his home - create a nearly maintenance free facade and handicap acccessible entryway, master bath and bedroom. Again, Jim and his crew responded to the task. After my father passed away, Jim was called to do an addition to my parent's home, where I now live. He added on a great room, garage and deck - approximately 1,000 sq. ft. The addition is now almost ten years old. His crew did a great job of making the look seamless, blending old and new brick and roofline.

J.M. Holmes has also done remodeling at our family business - a kitchen/office area, as well as a 6,000 sq. ft. addition.
